LoL 2024 First Split Predictions
With a new season in our midst, another opportunity to predict and win is in our hands once more. Let’s take a look at each league and see who has a higher chance of getting into the playoffs in each region.
Let’s start with the LEC (EMEA). Looking at the roster shuffles, some quite interesting moves were made off-season. Karmine Corp acquired Astralis’ slot in the league, and Excel Esports and Giants merged as GIANTX. G2 Esports and Fnatic will still be at the top this season, though. They have kept their solid rosters that had a good result in the season finals, and I don’t see them not qualifying for the playoffs in this split. The remaining two slots in the playoffs are up for grabs. Based on their stats, BDS, GIANTX, Team Heretics and Mad Lions are the favourites to take it. No disrespect to the other teams, but they just have not proven themselves in the past split, especially Vitality.
Next, let’s take a look at the LPL (China). They have the most teams in their league, with 17 teams competing. With so many teams, It’s better to just focus on the teams with a good record from last year for now. JD Gaming and Bilibili Gaming are still expected to perform well and are almost guaranteed to reach the playoffs. They only traded their mid laners in the off season. Bilibili Gaming also just won the Demacia Cup 2024 against JD Gaming. Granted that this event is only a minor tournament but still, they showed that they are still one of the top teams in the LPL. LNG seems to still keep their core players, so similar performances will come out of them this split. The rest of the spot is up for grabs any team can take it. The competition in the LPL has always been fierce. The Worlds Championship runner-up Weibo Gaming has parted ways with their top laner and jungle. They finished 5th-8th place in the Demacia Cup, it’s still too early to say if their roster move was worth it or not.
LCS (North America) only has 3 teams to look out for right now. Cloud9, Team Liquid and NRG, the rest are quite lackluster. Cloud9 is on paper the most favorable to take the LCS trophy this split but they can be beaten by NRG and Team Liquid. These three teams are guaranteed to reach the playoffs, the rest of the teams are just fighting not to be in the bottom 2 in the season. There’s really nothing more to say about this region.
Lastly, we have the LCK (South Korea). The home of the defending World Champion. For the past few splits now, it’s always been the same teams on top of the league. Gen.G Esports, T1, KT Rolster and Hanhwa Life Esports, with Dplus trailing closeby. These teams are almost guaranteed to reach the playoffs. Just choose Gen.G or T1, and you’re good to go if you are betting. Gen.G made some moves this offseason and got some solid players for their roster. T1 kept their roster, so they are still that championship-caliber team. Overall, I would expect Gen.G to be the champion of the LCK, just based on their past performances. T1 would be the better choice when it comes to international competitions, though.
So that is our prediction for the upcoming split. This is guaranteed to be another banger season for fans and players alike.
